Histiocytomas (Update - it is scar tissue)

Well, it looks like Teagan may have another 2 histiocytomas growing on her feet

And just to be akward - on diffeent feet.

I can't seem to find anything online about recurring histiocytomas (benign), in dogs.

It's begining to worry me a great deal, as if they keep growing like they seem to - Teagan will pretty much spend half her life having surgery and being in bandages

I don't know what causes them, or how to treat them.
I know a lot of dogs respond to antibiotics - but they don't have any effect on the ones that grow on Teagan.

I'm wondering if any of the supplements may add to the fact they are growing - perhaps causing too much of something? (clutching at straws to find the answer here tbh).

My bitch has had 3 histiocytomas - but on the body. The first one was removed. The others we just left and they disappeared on their own. Are these growths on the feet in places that will be affected by pressure? If they are on the top of the foot I would be inclined to leave them to see if they vanish. But you should get a vet opinion.

I don't think that food or supplements would be the cause?

As you know Rosie's responded to AB's, a friend of mine who shows and breeds cockers, one of her girls has re-occuring histiocytomas, the first couple she had removed, but ever since, when they reappear she leaves them, some have taken months to go, but they do go eventually.

Unfortunately, they are on Teagans feet - on the bottom, and if they grow a bit more, they will rub on the ground

Oh dear Hevvur - what a downer Guess you will have to get a vet assessment.

There is a cream/ointment which I know several people use to treat histiocytomas. There are two actually: Panalog or Animax. Don't know if you can get them there or if they would help. Might be worth asking the vet, and they might be known under different names in the UK.

Hope it can be sorted without surgery

Thankyou SB.
I have done a search for both of those you mentioned - Panalog brings up quite a bit, but Animax brings up a company, and I can't find anything but (animal) cleaning products.

We are due at the vets in the next 2 weeks, so I will mention them and see what we can do

The vet took a look today, and says that it all looks like scar tissue!
I'm so pleased
