Phone call!

I had a phone call about an hour ago, from a friend who's brother has a snake.
She said they want to 'rescue' it. The snake is in a tank, with no food, water, heat, light etc.
Do I want it!
I asked her what kind it is (thinking if it's poisonous... ), and what size it is.
She said it's small, and stripy.

Ok, doesn't narrow it down much does it
I said to her that she can bring it round, as obvisouly i'm having problems with Teagan at the moment, so can't go out!

So 1/2 hour ago she turns up with a shoe box, and I have opened it, and there is a snake in there! It's not really stripy, and I have no idea what it is!
She said there was meal worms in the tank with it, and rotting fish.
She said her brother doesn't even live at home, he is on drugs, and they don't know where he is, and the snake has been there for a while, he paid £50 for it.
She left the tank opewn, so it looks like the cat has got the snake when he does return!

I have checked online, and it is a garter snake (similar to a water snake).
The poor thing isn't in good condition
It has chunks out of it's tail, where the meal worms have had it, and it has lumps and bumps all over it's body.
It is only young, I would say around a year, maybe 2.

I have set up my old vivarium, and put it on top of Colins in the living room!
(Colin at the moment is on a mission to upturn his water bowl from underneath! lol)

Got a picture of it before I put it in it's viv, and now I have to do some research!

Update on Colin too, while i'm writing about snakes!
He loves to come and visit us, and he will happily stay on my shoulders whilst I walk around!
He also likes sitting in the hood of my dressing gown - it's a towel one, so must be warm!!

Yeah, I feel really sorry for it
It's tail is raw where there are no scales

Colin is great!
I showed his pic to a friend who has snakes, and they commented on his excellent condition

Spookily I was just browsing animal rescue centres, this link here (hope it works!) has a list of reptile rescue centres, someone might be able to take him on if you don't want to keep him, or at least will be able to give you some good advice!

Just wanted to congratulate you with your new snake
That is a nice thing to do that you will rescue it.
