What A Difference A Night Makes

Or from the jaws of devastation to miracle recovery

Thought I would be posting a Rainbow Bridge message for our GSD Abbie today, she collapsed last night & was unable to get up, very laboured breathing & looking very ill, she managed to get up(will power I think)& get back into the house to await the vet.

The Vet & nurse were lovely & she got two shots of antibiotics & Metacam as the vet's opinion it was the heat & pain from artritis etc(she's 11 years old & a very big girl)her heart & colour was fine.

After a sleepless night, she got up on her own at 1.50 this morning & went for a drink & a wee & came back in & nudged me for something to eat-half asleep I gave her a cream sponge split which was swallowed in a second & she went back to sleep

This morning she is back to almost normal asking for her breakfast & scoffing it with relish & even nicking Rjj's Kong

I'm always amazed at the speed our special furbabies recover & thank goodness they do :smt049 :smt049 :smt049 My dad would have been devastated if he had lost her too soon :smt052

I'm posting this just to show that our special friends can amaze us with their strength & will to live

The vet thought it was the heat & a very painful flare up of Arthritis(she's a rescue so has never been X rayed so could have HD & arthritis)

She barked at the paperboy today & been blagging titbits off my dad all day Definitely on the way back to normal

Poor thing.. dogs can be amazingly resilient, I had almost given up hope for Amy when she started to have serious problems last spring but we have a reprieve

I hope Abbie continues to improve...
