The real pests of the countryside..... pheasants.

I don't understand why our native wildlife gets trashed, yet people never bat an eyelid at the THOUSANDS of pheasants that are released every year so people can shoot them.

They are a major hazard, standing in the roads. I live and work in rural areas and I've already seen 100s dead in the roads and people swerving to avoid the live ones.

Not even thinking about how they impact on local ecosystems....

I din't understand why deer, foxes, rabbits and hares aren't banned, I mean I live in a rural area and they are a major hazard on the roads, I see 100's of them dead in the road and constantly swerve to avoid them.

Never mind how they impact local ecosystems!

They're native, part of the ecosystem and not released in their 1000s every year...

That has nothing to do with pheasants and everything to do with poor driving practices.

The other day a line of cars waited for some ducks to cross the road.

I never swerve for pheasant, if they get run over, a free meal for my dogs!

It is shocking that all this wildlife is littering up our highways ...........................

Well rabbits are even less native to the UK, should we get rid of all them too?

I wouldn't purposely run over any animal if it was safe for me to slow down and do so. Why would anyone plough through them if it was safe to avoid them?

I ran over a duck a while ago and I felt REALLY guilty about it. If it is safe I normally stop or move onto the other side of the road to avoid it but I couldn't this time as someone was right up my ar*e. Poor thing.

They're not the subject of this thread, by all means have a discussion about it, but I'm not plowing them down by their hundreds on my daily commutes, and risking my life because they're causing issues for drivers!

Still not convincing me I should be happy to see them!
