Jenny - as Moyra said, "you can adjust the height so that you can walk upright." The mistake that far too many frame or crutch users make is not having the height high enough on frames, or long enough on crutches, so they end up bent over which makes back problems worse and does booger all to help your balance.

And by refusing to "give in" and get one, you are not doing yourself any favour, however young you are.

Lol, I have a lovely blue one and my friend has a lovely red one none of those old grey frames. Three wheelers are dangerous the four wheelers with brakes are best and you have to have a seat so you can sit and watch the world go by!

Malka you are right it is important to adjust the height so you walk upright it is when you walk bent over you give the impression of being old rather than just disabled even if it is a temporary situation.

Finally got back home, there's roadworks everywhere, I ended up in Lowton, several miles from the vets.
They have given me a syringe paste called Promax, it has 3 notches and you give one dose a day for 3 days, so even I can get that right.
Brought Keshi some white fish to steam and cooked chicken for when she feels like eating.

My crutches are grey because I cannot get coloured ones here. If I could, I would want black! And my zimmer frames are all grey - folding ones so they are out of the way when not needed but I do not need them for walking and they never see daylight so who cares?

Same with my manual chair which, because it had a narrower than normal seat ['cos I have a skinny bum] was classed as a teenager one so came in lots of different colours. I said I want black. And I got black but part of his frame and the footrest hangers are royal blue. Could have been worse though.

The Rucker was mostly black - I think, and Xanadu is black with a silver frame. Does not bother me that his wheels are grey though as they are nice and chunky and he is one very strong and powerful chair.

Regarding heights of frames and lengths of crutches - I remember being in Office Depot [a large store in the shopping centre some years back] and I was on Chair [manual one] as it was before I got Tontoo, my little scooter.

And a young man on crutches was bend double hobbling along so me being me went up to him and asked if I could help. Turned out he was on crutches because he had damaged a knee but the crutches - "adjusted" by a physio - were doing his back in. Yeah, well, of course they were - they were far too short.

So someone got a chair for him to sit on while I lengthened his crutches by about 15cm and said "OK, try those - but put them in front and towards the side of you, not alongside your legs."

Bingo - he stood up, and I do mean up - and instead of hobbling he was able to walk fine without taking too much weight on his bad knee and without having the back pain.

I got a hug and a kiss from him, a round of applause from the crowd that had gathered round, and could not get out of there fast enough!

Moyra and Nippy - I don't think those 3 wheeler frames are dangerous unless you have weak hands and can't rely on applying the brakes when going down hill. My Mum uses one all the time and gets around really well. She nearly 84 and has dementia. They also fold flat so don't take up much room. However, if you need a four wheeler like Moyra and require a seat, the four wheeler has got to be a lot better and safer
Lacey - Enjoy your Indian meal ... yum, yum
June - I've never heard of those meds you've been given for Keshi ... what are they for? I'm sure she'll love the white fish and chicken when she's feeling up to it.

I've recently got back from a lovely hour walk with the dogs and my OH and some of it was in the sun which has spent the afternoon showing itself and then disappearing again. Nice and mild though.

I'll pop back in early evening.

Hi Jenny, pleased to hear they didn't have to drill through your nose today You've just reminded me of when I had to take my horse over to the vets to see a specialist who did just that to him They drilled a hole in his face about 4" across whilst I stood there and held his head, I will never forget that day. It was because of his nose bleeds they did that. When I put him back in his box to take him home, the vet called me back into the surgery and told me to look at a "real" hole, and this poor horse had half his face drilled out for them to investigate, it was awful to see Anyway, nasal spray sounds the much better option Jen, and hopefully it will work in time.

Hi Eileen, hope you have a good week-end with your o/h back home.

Hi Lynn, good to hear you could be exchanging next week, are you getting just a little bit excited now?? I do hope so

Hi Jen, lol at your son there One you get yours, just make sure you actually use it properly, unlike my mum who used to "lift" hers everywhere I often used to come down to the kitchen only to find her standing there holding it up lol! Same as a friend of mine, who's dad was given a wheelchair, he used to push it everywhere he went I think they should come with instructions don't you

Hi June, glad you got to the vets, sounds a bit of a nightmare journey though. I think I've had that paste before, if it's in a big, plastic tube with big markers on the plunger end. It was grey in colour, but it did the job for Zena, let's hope it helps your girl with her tummy problems. I do hope she manages to eat something later too More hugs heading her way.xxxx

I'm having lovely e-mail conversations with the journalist from the magazine who is coming down to do that test on us at the end of October. She's as nutty as I am, I can't wait to meet up with them Let's hope she considers us worthy enough to go into their where to stay guide for 2014, that would make my year that would and afterall, that's what this is all about. Better get the egyptian cotton on the bed down there methinks

Better get my skates on Dave home tonight, curry to cook, shower and hair to do and if there's time, I might just finish those darn curtains and get them put out of sight.

Enjoy your evening everyone, I probably won't be around nor over the week-end as it's a very short one with Dave only home 2 days this time. Big HI to my dear friend Sally when you arrive, cos we won't be seeing you either will we for a while - hope Jimmi's paw is better too.
