Our guinea pig died today.

She didn't seem as lively on Sunday night as usual, anyway I checked her on Monday morning and her breathing was a bit funny so I thought I would take her to the vets tonight when we went with Benji. However I checked on her this morning and found her dead in the cage She was absolutely fine on Saturday and running about when her and her friends cage was cleaned out.
This was Molly pictured 2 months ago

This was her with her friend Coco who also died 2 months ago(about 2 weeks after this picture was taken) of the same type of illness.

Yes I feel really guilty now for not getting her to the vet last night - although I don't really think it would have saved her life if I had - it must have been some type of pneumonia that got hold very quickly. Guinea pigs soon lose the will to live when they are ill - they don't fight they just give up and die

Thanks Trish and Perrypooh for your kind words

so sorry for your loss.

I lost my two GPs in much the same way, much as I love the little wheekers, I will never keep them again.

sorry to hear this Foxy - sometimes it can be down to their hay i think - they get some disease from it that affects them really quickly.

rip little one - happy squeaking at the bridge

Sorry to hear your news, she looks fantastic in the pictures, so fit & healthy, its surprising how quick they can go downhill.
