Eating dead mice

Not sure if I should post this here or not but...

...my cats keep leaving dead bodies lying about the garden and my yukky puppy keeps trying to eat them.
Is it okay or should I stop him?
I took one off of him the other day (eurgh) as it was old and manky looking, but will a fresh mouse, rabbit or bird be okay if he eats it?

hi
my only worry with mouse eating would be
1... if the mouse had ingested poison
2.... mice are carriers for tapeworm

other than that enjoy lol

I agree that eating dead mice not be a good idea because of the poison. Thankfully, my dogs arent into eating dead animals they find anymore but they would as pups. Now they just like to roll in them!

I personally wouldnt encourage my dogs to eat anything they find, I want to check it over first so I always make them leave it if I can but the very act of them eating such things as mice and birds wouldnt bother me if I knew it was fresh and safe.

I'm 98% sure they're not being poisoned - generally we know when the cats leave stuff an they leave it in the same place.
Thanks for the replies- I'll stop him if I can but shan't worry overly if he runs off with one and noshes it!
