Infection of the nerve in the ear which affects the equilibrium of a dog's balance

The title of this thread is exactly as my friend quoted me, her french bulldog has been diagnosed with this by their vet. She is currently on medication for it, but there has been very little if any improvement at all.

Has anyone on here experienced this at all ?

Her head is constantly cocked to one side (right ear). Falls when playing. Vet not sure if there will be a full recovery - he said she may have a permanent tilt to head.

Flickering of eyes not apparent. No steroids at present.

Lately her eyes have become quite bloodshot.
