MInky on here ( although not really much anymore ) has a beautiful boy called Danny - he came through rescue and is beautiful !!!

I love the black and tans too - yes its undesirable and they shouldnt be bred from, but they do just randomly appear. Although so many people then say its crossed with a rottie !! LOL

it does seem strange to me that a for a breed with such a large colour variation that this is undesirable. is there any reason for this?? or did someone jus dislike it and decide its bad

i am not sure to be honest, I thought it was perhaps a recessive gene but think there is a bit of debate about it !!

http://www.staffords.co.uk/sbtbc/pro...report2002.htm

i just scanned this and read

Another delegate advised that ‘black & tan’ is a very dominant gene and this is why it says in the Breed Standard “highly undesirable”, otherwise it would take over and we would eventually lose all our colour variations

interesting

Must admit I thought he was gorgeous, to begin with I though he was a rotty pup, till I had a closer look, typical staffie...

Was it a bi-colour or a tri-colour Pat?

Dispite it being called Black and tan the gene is actually for the pattern and you can see Staffords of others clours that strickly speaking are black and tan but just a different colour.
It is the pattern that is the problem
