Interested in finding out more about this dear boy? Please read on…

Sunday is a 2-3 year old lurcher boy who was rescued from a UK pound in the nick of time. He arrived to us quite thin and covered in mange, but that has cleared up wonderfully now. Sunday has grown in a lovely rich fawn coat that is super soft, and he’s a fabulous boy. He is medium sized at 24” to the shoulder and is very much your typical lurcher.

~ Personality ~
Generally: Playful goof, adores people to bits, loves cuddles, bouncy and excitable in kennels (will change when in a home)
Sunday is a people-pooch. He has not let his nasty start dampen his love for his ‘hoomans’ at all and is so affectionate and sweet. When he sees people coming towards him, he gets so happy he bounces around like a ping-pong ball! Please don’t let this deter you though, as once out, after the initial excitement, Sunday is much much calmer. Once he is in a home and getting lots of fuss every day, this ‘yay people!’ excitement will die down. He’s a great cuddler and his weak spot is definitely the butt-scratch, as you can see!

Sunday isn’t particularly interested in treats and so needs high value yummies to get him interested in training. He will work happily for just praise though, and can be very engaging when asked. He LOVES to play and is definitely reliving his puppyhood now that he’s not worried about his next meal.

~ In the Home ~
Generally: Not yet in a home, clean in his kennel, will require company.
Dear Sunday has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes these dogs 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. Sunday has had such a terrible start and really deserves some love and comfort in his life.

Sunday very much dislikes being left alone, and can fly over 6ft fences with ease. As such he will need secure fencing in his future home, as a precaution, and he would be best left with canine company if his owner works during the day.

~ Medical Issues ~
Sunday has a slightly sensitive tum and so will need a sensitivity diet plan to avoid bouts of diarrhoea. This issue might also be due to the stress of kennels, and might dissipate completely once Sunday is in a loving home. It might also briefly flare up upon moving to the home from the stress of that, and so is something to bear in mind.

~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Great with other dogs, playful and happy-go-lucky, loves company.
Sunday is fabulous with other dogs and enjoys their company. As mentioned, he really does not like being left and feels abandoned, so having a canine buddy to keep him company and help him feel secure if his people leave for a period of time will be a huge help to him. Sunday would slot happily into an existing pack, or would be a really nicely confident, balanced companion for another pooch. He loves to play lurcher-chase and runs like the wind.

~ Out and About ~
Generally: Loves getting out of his kennel, pulls a bit, great in car, suitable for offlead after recall work.
Sunday is a moderately active pooch who does require daily walks and playtime, but will happily snooze around those. He is currently strong on the lead and this is being worked on at the moment. He travels excellently in the car and loves getting out to see the world. He is a happy, social lad who makes friends everywhere.

Sunday will be suitable to be let off lead in safe areas after lots of work on his recall has been done. He is a very good boy, he just doesn’t yet realise that he should come when called. It is difficult to train this in kennels as his offlead times are more centered on play and socialisation.

~ Where Am I? ~
Sunday is currently in kennels in Norfolk. He can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a homechecker available, but please note that you may be required to travel to our rescue to meet and collect him.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Sunday is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This dear boy would benefit so very much from a chance to live in a foster home and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always eager for new foster volunteers. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Sunday, you can contact me (Tam) via email: tam@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or speak directly to Bronwen by phoning: 075 000 62648. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs.

There are application forms for both adopting and fostering Sunday, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page or Fostering Page .

Thank you.

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a voluntary organisation based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spread over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK. If interested in one of our hounds, please feel free to contact us.
