O No ... that is just HORRENDOUS. I am so sorry. Most likely the poor dog will have not made it, but presumably the island is being checked out in case she is on there?

The water is so cold at this time of year, even for heavy coated dogs. It has certainly made me think because Ben and Tai would regularly swim out when we went on our annual holidays down to Norfolk or Devon for my birthday in January. We would encourage them by throwing balls ... I will be much more careful in future, although I am a very strong swimmer and would most certainly pursue Ben if he was heading out to sea.

What a terrible tragedy, that poor dog, I really hope she has made it.

Bearing in mind the breed Meg, I guess she has a better chance than some ... it is just so tragic ... I am trying to send out positive thoughts.

I'm willing Ella to have made it, and to be on that island.
Is there any chance that the coastguard could help?

Please follow up with any updates.

We will stay positive until we have anything to suggest otherwise. The island is a nature reserve, so guess there is some cover, fresh water and food there?

Sorry, if it spoilt your day Meg, I wanted to raise more help for Ella and raise awareness not upset anyone. By posting here I might have reached the one person with a solution. We can all help by sendign positive vibes and so on. We have to hope for the best.

I will update the page as soon as I know anything and can release the knowledge.
