Sadly there have been several cases where a microchip has not proved ownership, in law it only proves who owns the microchip.

Like I said the microchip can be used to determine ownership, once the dog is found you then produce proof of ownership of the chip and photos and receipts for the purchase or adoption of the dog. If this is not sufficient you need to get a modern system of law in the UK. This is true because microchip tech in the USA to the UK is identical, but here we have rational laws.
