Is bran good for dogs?

Im asking because my year old collie lad LOVES bran!
I have a bin full of dry bran for my small furries outside and one day left the lid off, came in to fint Flint with his head in there licking it all up!
He adores the stuff

I dont think it will do him any harm but thought it best to check with you guys first.

I thought about maybe putting some in with his normal food? Seeing as there are lots of museli foods out there...

Any suggestions?

Im no expert, but I have seen some people recommend it to bulk out the stool and therefore eliminate anal gland problems. I bought some oat bran for my Yorkie but havent given it yet as we are trying to get him established on one particular food. I have heard of some dogs with intolerence to wheat, so I would have thought wheat bran wouldnt be good in such cases. Does it suit your dog?

As long as he doesn't eat too much of it it will be fine...good general roughage...it just comes out the other end!

Absolutely fine, but obviously not so for dogs that may have a wheat intolerance or allergy.

I am not sure it has been processed enough for a dog to digest it. I really doubt it would hurt much, but nothing a dog needs.

My vet recommended it to help with Maggie's anal gland problems and it did her no harm. I think we've added it to most of our dogs dinners of the years.

Ours just had some oat bran mixed with a little natural live yogurt this morning, just a small tester, and he enjoyed it. I figured it would be good for his gut.
