Lethargy, drinking a lot, etc.

My 5 1/2 year old lab seems very lethargic this evening. He has been for 2 walks today and seemed fine on both but just this evening he seems very lethargic, has been drinking a lot of water in one go and although he ate all of his dinner, he wasn't his usual desperate self while I was getting in ready, he went and lay down and I had to call him to eat it whereas he's usually tring to get head first in the bowl before I've even set it down. He hasn't been sick. He is just lying down all the time. While I was washing the car before he was flat out on the ground looking very sleepy and sad I didn't notice him eating anything unusual on our walks and I haven't given him anything different. Any ideas?

Poor Jago, I think I would ring the emergency vet for some advice just to be on the safe side.

Agree with Nippy - I'd get him to the vets, whatever it is it certainly doesn't sound right.

It could be a number of things such as diabetes - but better to get it checked out to be sure.

Hope all goes well at the vets - keep us posted!

Hi all, thanks for the replies . He perked up a bit last night and was wandering around so I thought he was coming at. This morning he was up and about when OH got up but OH said he only eventually ate his breakfast and wasn't keen to go out. He has gone outside now and is sniffing around. I think he's just got a bit of a sore belly for whatever reason. I am going to phone the vets this morning and see if I can get him an appointment to be on the safe side.

He's a LOT perkier now than he was yesterday or this morning BUT I saw some sick outside and there was a massive blood clot in it If he wasn't looking better I'd be very very worried but I'm still desperate for this appointment this afternoon!
