Morning Dogsey Daily thread - Tuesday

Good morning all Dogsey Peeps

Can't type properly this morning cos I had a bit of an incident last night when letting Zena out for her last wee. Those friggin dogs next door were left out, and the minute Zena went up the top they barged at the fence barking and growling, and that labradoodle that has attacked her 3 times already, sounded soooooo evil with this throaty, deep growl. Zena had to take action, and although I had her harness and lead on, she managed to spin me around, nearly pull me down the steps (to get a better attempt from the lower part of the garden at it), I managed to catch the tips of my 3 fingers on my left hand. They're so sore, it hurts to type, so I might be a bit quiet today on here. Comes to something when you can't let your dog out in your own garden doesn't it Anyway, the neighbours are back from their hols this week-end and they know not to leave them out there because of Zena. Why can't they just lie out there like Zena does, why do they have to barge at my fence to have a go at her, it's so unfair

Might go down the beach this morning if the tide's right, but I'll have to check on it first.

I have the rest of the week to myself now, I did all the appointments yesterday, along with all the ironing for the van, so I can please meself now.

I might paint the big basket outside my bedroom window. It's a major task, cos it's black metal and stretches the whole length of the 10ft window, difficult to get to with a flower bed of prickly shrubs underneath it too, and a ladder will probably have to be involved or a small set of steps, hmmmm, maybe I should leave it for Dave He's going to paint the garage door this week-end, so it would be nice if I could manage to do it, as it'd mean the whole of the outside would be finished then. Nah! I think I'll take myself off down the town

Haven't caught up with yesterday's posts yet, but I'm sure all is fine with everyone and the doglets, and enjoy your day everyone, hope the sun is shining on you today like it is here

Morning H and all.

Another beautiful day today. I am working till 2pm so will be able to enjoy some of it this afternoon .
I didn't realise how dry it had got out there so last night was rushing round watering plants.

Ouch at your fingers H, Its ridiculous you can't just let Zena out in the garden off lead and without worrying about that dog.
Is there anyway of doing something in your garden so that side would be out of bounds to zena and like a separate fenced off bit of garden only you could access via a gate?

Hope everyone else is ok and you are all now enjoying this lovely weather we have had for a while.

Hi everyone
Ouchie Helena, b****y neighbours, why can't they have some thought for others? Enjoy the beach, I think Brian is taking Peps there today.
Morning Bev another nice day here too

Well I have got a lot more pricking out to do today, so I shall be spending the day in the potting shed
Take care all and enjoy your day

Leave the basket painting to Dave! Finger injuries are always so painful. I've whacked my one arthritic finger joint on the edge of an open cupboard door over the weekend. Was yanking out a big towel from w/machine under. I was almost in tears with the pain and had to stand with my hand buried in a bag of frozen veg in the freezer for ages. Ended with a livid white line RIGHT across the middle of the affected joint and it's swollen like there's a marble under the skin now.

Yes it does come to something. And it is unfair. I was on about people who can't train their dogs to a minimum of acceptable behaviour earlier. How it makes life difficult. What I never understand is how they get enjoyment from owning unruly (or vicious) dogs? For the life of me I cannot see how anyone gets pleasure from that. Life would be so much NICER for them if they trained their dogs that people would be pleased and eager to meet them.

I got up with the intention that my first task would be to water the new stuff I put in the gaps in the hedging. However Bella alerted me to the fact that the lawn sprinklers had come on - so I'm sat out here nattering to you lot instead with a can of kawfee. Still have to do the pots but will wait until the patio tiles dry now - won't take long. (Helena take note - I am waiting to avoid any chance of me SLIPPING on wet tiling - not doing stuff that is likely to provoke an accident!)

Bev I believe most of H's probs with those dogs crop up when they are exiting their place by the steps and path from front door. Not really anything more she can do there - is already a fence in place. But dogs rushing and barging growling and barking at a fence is still upsetting for Zena. Who then almost yanks H over trying to get to them.

Your grand efforts with bedding etc. - you could open a little cottage nursery and sell em outside! Which beach will your OH be taking Pepsi onto? Lots of memories of my years spent taking my dog down on the beaches in your neck of the woods.

Morning everyone.
Helena sorry about the fingers they sound sore.
The two little cavaliers next door one side here can't stand it if we are in the garden and especially Dillon they scrabble at the fence and we have had to block up holes one almost got through. Not sure what they would do but they sound as if they would have a go. Dillon thankfully doesn't react and gets on with the Lab Poppy the other side.
Hope the fingers heal soon and stop being sore.
Morning Bev and Nippy Jen.

Morning Lynn. Just wondering if it would help if the two Cavvy's got to know Dillon?

Very odd to me - my Cavvy didn't bark at ANYTHING! She didn't bark at all until she was a few years old. We used to think she couldn't bark! But was totally non aggressive (as I was given to understand is a trait of the breed and if they are aggressive there's a problem?) wouldn't even defend herself. I was told that that, too, was normal. Very submissive little dogs. Mine had more attitude and spark than some but still never ever went nuts at other dogs, cats or any other living creature.

Also find it odd that they are out there so much. Again, mine only ever went outside if I went with her - never went out in the garden of her own volition, even if the door was open. They are companion dogs and mine was the perfect example of that. Velcroed to me!

Helena would this be of any use to you if you plant it along the fence but keep Zena away

if it smelt horrible enough maybe the Labradoodle won't go near the fence?

Morning Pat I have never seen them taken out so believe that's the biggest problem they are not socialised only with each other and my do they play bl**dy rough they go bonkers at everything. If they bark too much they are taken in especially if we are out there or Dillon.
They bark even if a member of the family are out there with them.

It has suddenly gotten a wee bit chilly although it must be warmer outside as the men coming back from Synagogue were just in shirts [mostly short-sleeved at that] with no jackets, while I am sitting here wearing Uggs as my feet were freezing!

Sorry to hear about your poor fingers Helena - and it really is not fair for those dogs to be left out to harass Zena like that. Same with the barking Cavaliers next door to you Lynn - at least the only dog problems I get are the loose ones and they usually booger off when yelled at.

Wish I could say the same for the kids who annoy both Da Booga and me. It looks like a number of people are hosting their children and grandchildren as there are a number of young children who have been standing outside doing the pointing and "oh look, a dog, a dog" as if they have never seen one before. The door is only partially open and the object of their attention is, so far, just laying by my feet ignoring them, but with no cars around today the bikes, scooters and those pedal go-cart things will no doubt be out in force this afternoon.

Oh well - schools will be back next Tuesday!

Hope all poorlies are feeling better today
