Corneal ulcers - debridement?

Loki has been on Fusidic acid for over a week for three tiny corneal ulcers which the vet says are really tiny. However, she said today that if they don't heal she may have to use a local anaesthetic and perform a 'debridement'. I think that's what she said. I heard the word 'bride' and third eyelid but it was hard to understand her on the phone.

I've just looked this up and am really worried now. Has anyone any experience of this with their dog?

Yes my Pointer had that done after drops and ointment didn't work. The procedure sounded horrible but did the trick and the eye healed quite quickly afterwards.

One of my Boxers had this done. It's along time ago but as far as I remember they scraped the surface of the eye then sewed the third eye lid across to protect it. Healed up no bother at all and dog was more bothered by collar than the eye.

Sure all will go well

Thank you. I hope the ointment will help so we we don't have to go down that road but I am re-assured.
Thanks everyone.

My Cavalier is prone to them, and have done the same treatment as you, the last one she got, we tried oral antibiotics and it cleared up, not sure if we were just lucky, also used Chloromycetin eye drops which is antibiotic as well

Aww poor Loki! Hope the ointment sorts it and he doesn't need the procedure.
