You've had some good advice, if you don't see an improvement within a week or two I'd suggest contacting a professional for help. Money spent now will be worth it in the long run - my advice would be to not wait too long and hope it might sort itself out, and let the days and weeks go by.

It needs to be worked on asap, and your lad mustn't be made more scared in the process (so the socialisation must be done at his pace if you see what I mean)
