its a bit late but my old boy had seizures never passed blood with it though.
alot of the time as far as i am aware they can be single or clusted the important bit is how long they are in the active part.
you need to bear in mind they have a period of going in and out of them.
ben only had 3 after the last 1 he couldn't stand and didn't know us but we was told it was life threating and he would have had some type of brain damage, we never got to know what was the under lying cause, just came on out of the blue.
if your vet thinks to keep on eye on him at the mo it could be to see if theres a pattern because untill they have had a few its classed more as a fit.
if all his bloods came back ok it could have just been a 1 off with age.
if they really think it is neurological they might meantion a cat scan to see if its anything.
good luck with the old boy. hope its nothing but a 1 off.

hi trish, didnt wanna say anything elsewhere really for a few reasons.

if ya pop on msn or pm or whatever can explain although ya prolly know why.

as it has turned out oscar has a respiratory infection, in his head mainly and not hsis lungs so a high probability this truggered the seizure.

how the vets missed this o nsat is beyond me but seeing as they didnt charge me much oon monday i will let thme off, no harm done

hopefully it will jsut be a one off.

thanks though trish and leo

HI, me again!

Just to add keep a diary - I'm doing this now so that we can maybe see a pattern/judge severity etc. and show to the vet if needs be. Also the blood might have come from a cut or something? Loki had blood in his spittle from an abraided lip where it had been hurt on the carpet.
Love to you and Oscar and I hope you get the respiratory problem sorted too.

At least you know what it is now - it's horrible not knowing.

I may be able to pop on MSN this evening, if so will 'see' you then!

Ceiron:

I don't know about dogs who have seizures, but I do know about people
who have them.

I had a really bad head injury about 20 years ago and have suffered from
seizures ever since. I have small seizures, where I do not lose consciousness and I have grand mal seizures where I do lose consciousness.
You had asked about "post seizure" care. I can only speak for myself, but
when I come to after a grand mal seizure, I have temporary memory loss
and I'm absolutely exhausted and I feel completely out of it. After a
seizure, all you want to do is sleep.

I don't know if dogs feel the same way, but I wanted to give you a little
insight into seizures from someone who suffers from them.

I hope your dog is okay. Good luck.
