Luke's thread has gotten me started now...Van Halen question for ya!

Ok, Luke's thread has gotten me started now.

David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar?

Have been talking about this all day as I've been listening to the Best of Van Halen.

For me 110% David Lee Roth. Put Sammy Hagar on vocals and it just isn't Van Halen. Could be any of a dozen bands of the time.
Still remember going to see them way back when they were at the top of their game. My ears were ringing for 3 days after and I had no voice left...and yes, I'm dating myself now
Of course I was only 3 at the time

David Lee Roth all the way, he had talent as a performer in his day! Nowdays though....that crown comb-over really does him no favours!

Sammy Hagar is probably the better singer but Van Halen sound like Van Halen when Dave Lee Roth is singing.

LOL, couldn't swoon over him now Have you heard they're going to tour though with Eddie's son playing with them.
