The homeless

Im always amazed by the control, that homeless people seem to have over their dogs, in crowded busy cities, the dogs walk to heal, very rarely a lead in site, it just amazes me.

Yes, I agree. But then these dogs lead a much more 'natural' lifestyle overall. Our pet dogs lead quite a controlled lifestyle whereby everything they do is dictated by us. Dogs of homeless people are exposed to everything and anything all of the time so their sole focus is their owner.

Yes, and they are generally healthy too. The bond between dog and homeless person seems to be a stage beyond what many of us have.

Yes, it has always amazed me too, and I could never just walk past a homeless person sitting in a doorway with his dog all curled up next to him either. I can't walk past any homeless person without contributing to the big issue (not that I take it) dog or no dog!

Hmm i always worry it's because they batter them

But maybe it's just because I own naughty Akitas and I can't quite believe people can have that much control over an offlead dog

There's a man who is often near me, and he treats his dog amazingly. I've seen him when he's freezing cold and wet cause he thinks his dog needs his coat more than he does. She's called Cody and they clearly adore each other. He told me about his life once, he's only 24, looks 40, and I really think she keeps him going.

must say they do put me to shame with the control they have over their dog.
I gave one i passed a tin of dog food once and he asked me "what am i supposed to do with that?" erm feed it to your dog. I wonder if he forgot the dog was even there

When we were living in our car all the homeless people we met with dogs fed them better food than any tinned dog foods, better food than they fed themselves really.
