Don't you just hate it when.........

People stop you and coo and ahh over your puppy then walk off being rude!!!!
Had both my girls out today on lead .. my baby Chi is 13 wks but tiny, weighs about 1lb.. I was playing ships with my son only to find my self, my son and my doglets sorrounded by a crowd.. Ok thats fine it happens, quite a lot, people are fascinated by such small dogs I expect it so it doesn't annoy me.....what does pee me off is when people interupt our game to ask lots of questions .. and then walk off saying "Eww rats on leads" They are clearly not rats and anyone stupid enough to confuse a dog and a rat is below contempt.... but please can't anyone come up with anything original.. if for every "rat" comment I had a £1 I would be rolling in it .. but still they all say it like its new
My lunch arrived but still I couldn't eat it hot as I was interupted by people and their inane questions about my dogs!! then they have the nerve to be rude about my dogs even though THEY have no manners
I want my girls to be happy and well socialsed but frankly we are unable to walk more than 6 ft without drawing attention, it's getting hard to deal with !
Rant over Thanks for listening
Rachel

sorry Rachel...so been there ( well admittedly without the rats comments)...head down and try not to make eye contact is the only piece of advice I have...try not to let their comments bother you...they know nothing....
Big hugs

You don't need to put up with anything from these cretins. Next time reply with a hearty cry of "Look out! Halfwits on the loose!"

oh bless - how mean is that. some people are just such morons aren't they!

i've had simalar before when people have come up to me and said how lovely setters are and then they walk off saying that the breed is un intellegent, crazy and un trainable!!

what gets me is that 9 times out of 10, when these comments are made they are made by people who don't even have dogs!!

i know the feeling! when dizney was young he carried him to the vets (pre-injections and no car) and people stopped us wanting to "say hello" and ask "where the other 100 were" etc One couple stopped us once and asked if he was a cross between a Dal and a shar-pei (sorry if i have spelt that wrong!) and when i told them he was a predigee they argued that he was a cross (lol)...

People always say the 'rat' comment when I have Dusty out on her own, seems they don't bother so much if I have the big ones out at the same time

I always get "OH LOOK, A SAUSAGE DOG"

We constantly get 'oh are they rejects? they're brown?'
or sometimes 'they're rare aren't they!' actually no

At the end of the day, your girls haven't a clue why they're getting attention so let people stop and fuss them whatever they think of them, at least they get socialised then! If they're that bad, then why stop and ask about them??

I also find that when people make ignorant comments about mine, mainly about their colouring or the fact that they are 'stupid dogs' I stop and correct them.
If they're ready to stop and ask about them, be ready to tell them about them!

Chi's aren't rats on leads, they're little dogs with big characters - so tell them that! Big up your breed! For every 100 ignorant pigs, you might get through to one and it'd be worth it!
