Walking Boots

Hope this finds everyone well

I've had to finally give in and throw my old pals in the bin, zero grip and leaking.....I'm gonna miss them, we've covered mile upon mile together

I wondered if anyone would be kind enough to recommend a good sturdy walking boot. I've always worn ankle height but some of the areas I hike in have mud that's much higher

Was looking to buy a longer length this time.

I'd appreciate any advise on the best type and where to purchase them.

Thank you.

Take care.

Seoniad.

Hi Seoniad

I currently have a pair they are really comfy, have vibram soles and cost me just £40. They have been comfy from day one, which I find a rarity in such boots. They are not a fancy brand and I have not been 'serious' walking (mountains etc) in them, but I have had them on for 13 hrs at work before and they are the height of comfort.

This is them in brown, I have them in black:

Try www.fifecountry.co.uk for a good range of boots including shepherds boots (great if you do a lot of hill walking). I have completely wrecked a pair of Durbarry boots in about 2 years of dog walking and have just changed to Musto that seem much sturdier.

Hello!

Have you considered Meindls!? It's what most keepers I know have.

I have these http://blacks.co.uk/product/080978.html currently, for beating and going on long walks with the dogs. They didn't rub, and the only time I got wet feet was when I walked througha burn that was taller than the boot!

The taller version is called Dovre Extreme GTX, and come in 5-13, not sure how much they cost though. OH had a pair, and has had them 2 year I think, they have started to leak, but this is because he spent of last year riding round on a quad bike and the heat from the engine melted them a bit!

No one that I know ever moans they are uncomfortable and the keepers that work with my OH didn't 'break' their boots in before a shoot day, they just wore them out!

Hope it helps your search a bit!

x

I have Ariats.

They are mostly a horsey make, but I live in my Glaciers. I wear them all year round and do everything in them, from riding the horses, walking the dogs to shopping in them.

They are expensive, but they are worth every penny. The bromonts short are similar to the glaciers.
