Puppy harness?

I went into Pets at Home today to look for a harness for Chip, but no joy. All they had were non-pull types that weren't recommended for puppies and the assistant thought harnesses in general were a bad idea for puppies. All I want is something comfortable and simple, so I won't jerk his neck and he'll be free to greet other dogs more naturally once he's able to mix. Any suggestions?

I've used a fleece-lined harness for foster puppies in the past as they are very gentle and relatively easy to fit onto a wriggly pup!

I'm new here so I may have missed the answer to this question;

How old is Chip and what breed is he?

Just so I can get an idea about size and strength.

He's 9 weeks and a Border Collie. not really at the walks stage but I thought I'd get him used to things.

A fleece lined harness is a good shout, maybe something also slightly elasticated just so nothing is too 'jerky'.

Here you go, just the job

http://www.dog-games.co.uk/newshop/H...+Fleece+Lined/

They do a puppy version

I have one for my Silk,[ cos its purple ], and they are great quality, lovely and soft / comfy for the dogs, will be gentle on puppy skin and coat, and the principle for helping a pup or adult learn to walk nicely on lead is the same as a Trail, so fwiw this is the one I wholeheartedly recommend for pupster

That's the one! Thanks for finding that Patch, I couldn't think of the name of the company. I bought mine at Crufts a couple of years ago (in pink!)

I have a Fleecy Harness for Chloe from 'Dog games' similar to the one which Patch speaks about it doesn't stop pulling, but while Chloe is learning not to pull she can do so in comfort without stress to her neck and throat .

The other good thing about these harnesses is they can be purchased in sections, so for example as a puppy grows a wider girth , you can buy a new girth strap without buying the whole harness.
