Puppy hip dysplasia (dogue de bordeaux)

A friend has a dogue de bordeaux he is 12 weeks old, his front paws face straight in front but his back paws both face outwards is this a sign of hip dysplasia, or is this because he is young

I'd say it was more that he was cow hocked to be honest.

Definatly not and to be honest unless he's bothered or they intend to use him at stud I wouldn't bother. You have to Xray then the plates go to the BVA to be scored.

The front legs can turn out when a dog had ED but i really don't know about the back legs and HD.

The only sure way of telling is X-Rays but if the dog's not displaying any pain or other problems i wouldn't put him through them.

he wants to know what the situation is with the puppy, if the puppy is not how he should be he will contact the breeder he has paid top dollar for the puppy

Nothing you can do about Cow hocks unless the pup was sold for show, its not really a problem. On of mine was cow hocked and had hips of 3/2 so I really doubt a breeder would be prepared to take the pup back (again unless it was sold as show quality).
Also unless there's a problem such as the dog yelping in pain no vet worth his salt would xray a pup they have to be 12 months old.
Even if the hips are high if the parents are low again there's not a lot they can do.
Is the pup in any discomfort or pain if not as I've said it's better well left.

I'm gathering if you say he paid a lot of money and won't be happy if there is a problem that both parents were health tested for ED and HD?
