Do Rescues Accept Dry Food?

I want to go down to the dogs home next week to find out if Staffypotamus was claimed and figure I'll donate some food and blankets while I'm there.

I took some dry food to the RSPCA one and was told they dont accept it - is that the norm for most rescues?

I took some dry food to the RSPCA in Southport and they were thrilled to bits - it wasn't even a sealed bag although not much had been taken out; we were moving from one food to another
Who knows, once I'd left they may have discarded it

When I lost Tawney I had just got a new lot of Vivitonin, my vets wouldn't take it because I had bought it online (I wanted to donate it someone who maybe was struggling to afford it for their dog)
RSPCA wouldn't take it either. Then it was suggested to me that I contact Bleakholt who have lots of oldies in their care and they were only too pleased to accept it. I just wanted to do it in her name and memory, and to be able to donate these meds rather than chucking them out (as I was advised to do) seemed to be the right thing.

Rescues here accept everything! Bags of old clothes, tinned, dry, old newspapers, blankets, plastic gallon bottles ( they make cat beds out of them) litter, money, foreign coins, anything.

I've taken dry food to my RSPCA branch only a couple of weeks ago and they took it happily, maybe it depends on the branch?

We do where I work, we are a little bit fussy i.e we avoid bakers but a decent brand we get very excited about! If in doubt give them a ring first and they should be able to tell you what they take and way they don't.

They usually accept dry food but I know they love tinned chappie because it is so easy on sensitive tummies and easy for the oldies to eat.

Thanks all

I was going to take some butchers tins coz they are cheap in asda, but chappie is a good idea too!
Found some cheap-ish Lily's Kitchen, so if they don't accept it my lot can eat it

My rescue centre does.
Something that is often forgotten is washing powder. Ours is crying out for non-bio washing powder for the bedding.

I struggled to get a rescue to take cat food when Cleo died - eventually I found a rescue through the vet nurse and they were actually beside themselves with gratitude . So much so I went out and brought more and took it back.
