Something doesn't add up then I assume they are dated the same, I would guess a little bit of tampering with one of the statements has been done, I wouldn't trust the photocopied statement at all

That is what I thought, there was no need for it to be photocopied at all, she said she just wanted to keep the 'real' copy at work for safe keeping.

can your friend phone the bank and find out where the money has gone? if it is fraud then they should be able to claim back. or is the OH up to something sounds a bit iffy to me hope he gets his money back

I think this is what our American friends call a 'no brainer'

No way can two accounts have the same number, you can have accounts with more than one account holder (Joint, company, etc.) but like you say how can one account be -500 and the other + 5,000 that would mean that account number was + 4,500 wouldn't it

Unfortunately as it has been said that the accounts aren't joint, but just in the OH's name, I suspect that the bank will not give any information at all to Random's friend.

Random, surely now your friend will start to open his eyes about his OH?
