Do Pilates (exercises).
Strengthen your 'inner core' of abdo muscles - makes you stand tall, pulls your tummy in, is great for your back, etc etc

You sure it's fat that's there Stewart? It could be just untoned stomach muscles giving a looser look to the stomach.

Try sit ups, curls ups and side bends holding weights. Also crunchies and the planks is brilliant for the tum. You lie down on your front as though in a position for sit ups. Your elbows should be bent so your forearms are along the floor (like a cat stretch) then you bring up your body onto your toes, hold for about 5 - 10 secs then lower. Repeat as often as necessary.

With sit ups - remember correct posture, pelvic tilt etc. so you don't damage your back.

Running is good for lowering of all over body fat and works lots of muscles too. Swimming is an excellent all over body work out.

I keep telling people it's muscle not fat but they don't believe me
I guess i don't get much exercise apart from mountain biking
I should do more sit ups but everyone i do i feel me poor bones creaking and crying out in protest.
My dad is very fat but when he was younger he was very skinny it's worrying

Look at The Official Body Control Pilates Manual Lynne Robinson, Helge Fisher, Jacqueline Knox Gordon Thompson ISBN 0-333-78202-X
Or get one of those elastic thingies that you loop on e.g. the door handle and raise your legs and arms against the resistance.
It's very good for you - gets your spine in good order and makes your central supporting core really strong and takes the strain off your back.
You'll find your belly will be naturally pulled in.
