Fractured sesamoid not healing

hi guys, haven't been on here for a good while and have a question for any Rottie owners out there.
Boss, our 3.5 year old Rottie male, has been diagnosed with sesamoid disease and a fractured sesamoid in his left front paw. This was misdiagnosed for quite a while and now the joint is swollen and I guess arthritic.
My problem is, he makes progress and seems to be a lot less limpy, but then he regresses.
I feel so bad for him because he's only young and I can't seem to get him completely stable. Willows vets in Sollihul have said there is no point in doing another MRI because the treatment would be the same - conservative. BUt I don't feel he is making the progress he needs to.
Has anyone out there had their dog operated on to resolve this and, if so, how did it go, is it now better?
What are your thoughts?
Thanks for listening

My thoughts are that you need a veterinarian and not people who you do not know on the internet. Have you tried searching this issue on your own as there is a lot of info. https://www.google.com/search?site=&...i3.Kz2i9uc_kHA Good luck

So sorry to hear about Boss's condition. It must be hard to accept in such a young dog, especially when it has such an impact on exercise. Is it worth getting a second opinion or being referred to a specialist?

Moobli, the willows is a specialist orthapeadic vet...they are a practice with a lot of specialists...eye, orthopaedic etc.
Greenmissjp, i haven't heard of the disease but if you want a second opinion, that is your right...you are paying so you can go and see someone else if you like...as to who you would go to, well there is of course fitzpatricks, there is Davies referrals and they are down london way i believe.

He needs expert advice. I've had this with horses and the sesamoid is removed. My strong feelings are it is not needed - get it out. BUT, I am not a vet or an expert.

I'd not hesitate to recommend Noel Fitzpatrick even before he was famous. He saved a little dog I had who went on to reach a ripe old age.

Expensive, but in a young dog you love - worth it.
