ticks. can anyone help please!!!!!!!!!!

was just giving harley a cuddle and found two little lumps on his side

when i moved all the fur out the way there were these white things stuck to him
i just pulled them off(don,t know if i should have done that) and they looked like creatures,they were quite big and had black things on them
i don,t know what ticks look like so could someone help me please

it has made me feel sick

U have fields close don't u Jax? They could have been sheep ticks. I think that's what they're called, my m-i-l's dog get's them occassionaly when she's been out in long grass.

do you think they could be ticks then as i,ve never seen one before,
just they have bite him and marked him

just looked them up and it says i shouldn,t have removed them myself

i should have taken him to a vet

keep an eye on it Jackie ... I have a tick hook it gets the whole thing out ...my dad has used it we have never had to but I think you gotta get the head out or somethink .... hope someone else can advise you better

thank u inca have put some antisepic powder on it and will get my husband to look at it when he gets in in the morning

any advice is welcome thanx

Hi jackie,

Inca's right, you need to get the head out other wise it can fester and go bad.

I got my tick hook from our local farm supplies, when you use them you you just twist it either anti-clockwise or clockwise, can't remember which and it lifts the tick out.

Or you can use Frontline on them, I've seen it dabbed on the tick and apparently it drops off a day or two later, Frontline protects against ticks for a month after application for fleas as well.

do you think i can get one from the vets??
and robert i don,t know if i,ve got all the head out,i was just so shocked to see them on him,i didn,t even know what they were

how can i tell if i,ve got all the head off??
soz for so many questions

had better check the other dogs now

should i still take him to the vets in the morning??
