i notice that cats aren't mentioned much with alot of the rescues. does it mean that if they aren't mentioned then the dog can't be homed with cats?

Generally yes. Any dogs who is cat friendly has an advantage so it would definitely feature in their ad if they were. Some dogs have never been tested and it's not always practical to do so, particularly if they are in a foster home.

ok thanks . would this be something that could be looked into if there was interest in a dog but it's cat history was unknown? i realise it wouldn't be practical to test every dog, but i know in the next couple of years i will be looking to rescue and i have 4 cats.

Logan came in with a chronic skin condition. Now he isn't that old so we think he has had this from a puppy and never been properly treated. He is beginning to respond to treatment, but isn't through the woods yet. Like Monty, he has such a magnificent personality he will win through and find devoted owners who can monitor and ensure it doesn't return with awareness. On going costs will be negligible.

Merlin happens to have been found stray with only 3 legs but it doesn't restrict his enthusiasm for life and he is a wonderous dog!

Currently fostered in the Portsmouth area.

Merlin, Ava & Eddie have now been rehomed!

Frank is still looking for his forever home. He is currently in boarding kennels.

Frank has sensitive skin and needs it watching. It seems to be more of a problem when under stress. He also has a high body temperature and so needs great care if travelling in a car on a warm day; walking in the sun or just sitting in the sun for any length of time.

Dogs looking for homes with Special Needs ...

Monty has had a chronic ear problem. Now recovered from a major ear operation and there isn't a lot that can go wrong with the ear from now on. He needs a loving home who can offer him care which so obviously hadn't enjoyed in his past life. Gem of a Staffie.

Saffy Sadly has hip dysplasia, but it’s controlled with mild pain control and joint support medication. She enjoys short walks and is now avoiding regular unthinking access to stairs.

Liberty has innocently come out of her first life into the sunshine! She was very thin, had long claws and is about 11 months old, but behaves as though she is a 5 month pup without the 'whiz'. She was covered in mange and is on treatment now. This will clear with dedication. She needs to build muscle and have top quality food.

In return you will have the most wonderful and pretty, pretty dog. She mixes well with all ages of humans and dogs. Cats shouldn't be a problem.

She is currently in a foster home and available for homing.
