I almost lost the will to live, trying to get through the nit-picking on this thread and I haven't read all of it but the above is essentially what I was going to post (but far better worded than my effort would have been! ) in response to Hannah's original post.

It is tempting to react by whacking/tapping/whatever but in such a young dog I especially think this is ultimately a bad thing, for all the reasons already stated.
