Front leg growth plates closing in pups?

Anyone know anything about growth plates closing.

I know of a litter of pups and 3 of them found so far have major problems with there growth plates and the "Wrists" making feet flap!!

I have no idea what i am on about which is probabley really obvious to anyone with experience in these problems.

I am wondering if you have or know about these probems what causes them. Could it be done by damage or could it be a problem with the breeding.

Any ideas generally?

Appartently these pups have loose carpal joints if that means anything to anyone. Bad Breeding or injury, any thoughts and their front leg growth plates have closed prematurely.

They have had surgery to remove a muscle from there body to be put into there legs. Anyone any thoughts. Wondered if anyone had ever had dealings with these issues and what they thought the cause might have been.

I presume you mean Carpal flexural deformity, I know of one GSD that someone was asking about last year I have got a study on this on ten different breeds, there did seem to be a breed disposition towards it in Dobermanns but the study concluded it was a nutritional deficiency. try googling the name

Yes, what you are saying sounds right, i will try to google tomorrow when i am a bit more with it.

There seemed to be several opinions from different vets, some saying its past on in the breeding and others saying feeding issues have caused this. There has also been talk of the pups being bullied by older dogs prior to 8 weeks daily and wondered if this could have caused these sorts of problems.

Thanks for that, it was interesting. I have now passed it on to a friend of mine.

I have never heard of these problems so it was good to get a picture of these poor pups suffering with these problems, so i know a little more when my friend is talking to me about it.

Help greatly appreciated, thanks.
