Good Luck Kirsty-I had two spinal blocks because I had two sections and I was worried about the needle going in and everything ..ask if you can speak to an anethetist and they can explain the ins and outs ( so to speak lol )-I was terrified when I had my first but all I felt was a strange twiddling sensation ( bit like when he was concieved pmsl )
I had a bit of lower back ache for a few days but nothing major

I had pethidene with my first and then later on they gave me gas and air which i thought was a waste of time when i called the nurse and told her that the gas and air wasn,t doing anything for the pain she realised that they had given me an empty cylinder by then Tom was on his way. With my second i didn,t get anything as she was born within ten minutes of getting to the hopital.

i had 3 c.sections so am of no use to you at all kirsty
but i,m sure you will be fine
and can,t wait to see pics of the baby when he is born
