Hi Malka - don't think for one second the iffy egg will upset Pereg overmuch just as long as you can tolerate the Hydrogen Sulphidey type pong that is due to emanate from your furry partner over the next 12 hours or so - Good luck with that one! Ref the previous post about why vets would be so supportive of Hills Diets et al - that's an easy one - they don't make money out of the good stuff. Only out of the mass produced muck!

Yup... according to the AVMA, AAHA, AAFP, NASPHV, most vets and most probably the BVA- I haven't checked their stance on raw feeding but I wouldn't expect it to be any different.

All of the above don't make any $$$$ on healthy cats / dogs such as yours or mine...

Hello Gordon Mac,

Well said...

I wrote two webpages that get quite a bit of interest:

It actually would be as everything in that bowl bar one is human quality food - the meat is raw ox lung which, when I do eat it, I cook it!

The only canine specific supplement, which gives the green tint to the "soup", is actually OK for humans as well as it is a mix of Wheat sprouts/grass - Barley grass - Alfalfa grass - Spirulina - Kelp - B12 - and Selenium, and she has a tsp every day.

Oh, and rotten egg or not, she did not have an upset stomach or even let off any stinky farts!

I've eaten ox tail but not ox lung. Never been much for organ meats. Have yet to meet one that I've liked, but would have to try some to find out.
BTW glad to see that Pereg has been doing well.

Ox lung is nice if it is chunked and cooked in a crockpot but needs to be cooked on the Low setting.

The good: This food is a good source of Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Potassium, Zinc and Copper, and a very good source of Protein, Vitamin C, Niacin, Vitamin B12, Iron, Phosphorus and Selenium.

The bad: This food is very high in Cholesterol.

If you scroll down you will see all the various vitamins etc it contains.

Best of all though is that Pereg loves it - and it is cheap compared with other meats. Also it is very light in weight for volume so 40-45g is ideal for her - that is approximately the amount in her bowl in that photograph.
