Big day today for Tallulah the Guinea Pig

I had to take my 16yr old daughter Charly up to the vets this morning as her Guinea pig tallulah is being started on insulin for the diabetes and the vet wanted her to learn how to give the injections twice daily.
He has kept tallulah in for the day to make sure she doesnt have a fit and die while Charly is at school and I at work and then after work tonight we have to go back and Charly has to do the injection herself in front of the vet.
The vet was once again very impressed with Charly and her research notes she took along. he said it was better than he could have got from any vet source. With that he asked the name of her biology teacher and her school as he wants to ring them and say what an excellent student they have LOL.
The vet has diluted the insulin ready for her use and said although expensive it will last a lot longer than the manufacturer guidlines of 1 month so we can continue to use it for a least another month afterwards quite safely. So not as bad as we feared.
Just hope we don't get a drugs bust with all these syringes in the house

Sounds like Tallulah is very safe in Charly's hands.

Well some good news the insulin is only costing us £17 and not £50 and Charly done the injection ok this evening. Our lovely vet said he is keeping the cost down as much as possible and has certainly done that.
We are going back next Tuesday so the vet can check her urine again and teach Charly how to expel urine from her so she can have the dipsticks here to test her herself.
Vet wasn't too happy with charlys school as he rang them and asked for her biology teacher to ring him back today, she didn't. But then thats nothing new with some of those teachers . So he asked Charly for her form teachers name and he is ringing him tomorrow.
