Alternative to rawhide chews?

My Affenpinscher, Gozo, absolutely loves these but I have reservations about them, partly because he manages to gum up his face fur but mainly because his breeder hates them as she nearly lost one of her Affens who got a piece stuck in her throat.

So is there anything he can have as a chewy treat that is as tasty that you guys would recommend?

J

I swopped onto pigs ears. They enjoy them. They break into little bits and they do the job I want ie, keep teeth clean.
I did give them raw hide (always supervised like any other treat) but my boy did try to swollow pieces too large and a couple of times he choked.

I tend to go for natural treats too. I've recently swapped from pigs ears to cows ears, though, as they last longer and are lower in fat. Dried tripe is a huge favourite in this house too.

Zooplus is where I get all my treats from.

The trouble is, for raw feeders, that can be every day fare!

Frozen carrots?

Maybe make some frozen treats on a stick?

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I think I'll be placing an order with zooplus.

Mine do get raw bones sometimes (although I confess I still feel nervous about it) which they both love, but I was after something that I could cope with them chewing in the front room as well!

Tell me about it. Mine love the tripe sticks. Pig trotters as well. I reckon the smellier the treat the more they like it LOL

I use dried tripe sticks and Fish4Dogs 100% fish skin dried treats plus bake my own pilchard cake.....none last as long as the rawhide but I feel all are safer and I'm pleased I stopped with the rawhide twists.

Mine love the dried pig skin, they kind of come in big rolls, they are quite chewy so keeps them quiet.
Raw marrow bones from the butchers too and cows ears
