Which Heater?

I use a heater in the shop (no central heating), and 2 have packed in - they were old.
I'm looking to buy another, but don't know which the best kind is?
Needs to be cheap to run, but able to heat a large-ish space!

Convector heater, halogen heater or oil filled radiator?

Halogen are supposed to be cheap to run so I have heard. If I were you I would go for an oil filled radiator type or better still gas, the bottles last for ages and once you have made the initial first buy it is quite cheap to run and at least you won't have to worry about large electric bills

Don't want gas, as the heater will be left on low at night, when no one is here, and gas ones have flames - so more dangerous.

It's a pet shop - got to make sure the animals aren't cold - and believe me, it gets very cold in here during the night (about 12 degrees and lower!)

Thought it might be Then why not an oil storage heater for the night time, although I don't know how warm they get. And maybe a gas heater for when you are there? Will save on electric then. I know electric heaters run away with the electricity.

Mum has one of those oil filled rads in her room just to top up the central heating if needed, but I don't think it would be good enough for a room with NO other heating quite honestly Pity you can't have a calor gas one coz that really would suit your needs the best, but I agree, not safe to be left overnight, although I used to leave mine on permanently once it was lit in my little flat, day and night and I never had a problem?

It's really dusty here Helena, cos of the fur, and dust from food/shavings etc, so wouldn't want to risk a flame with things floating around lol
