Paint pads for painting walls - better than rollers?

I want to paint my bedroom... soft yellow! Sick n tired of the blue - it's so depressing!

So wondered, is it worth giving those paint pads a shot? They're meant to be less messier and quicker too?

I've never tried, but Vicki, it's nice to hear from someone who has actually used them!
I've only ever done roller and paintbrush.

I'd second that. They give a nice even coat which I never managed with a roller - always ended with thicker stripes and/or splashes from the side.

Thanks all - will give them a go

Do you still need protective sheets? Or are they really mess-free?

We didn't put any sheets down when we last decorated, but our carpet was elderly.

We are decorating next year (yuk!) and our carpet is newer, so we may put sheets down, but the pads really make minimal mess if any at all

Depends how clumsy you are

We didn't drip any when we were actually painting, but at seperate times, both me and OH have knocked the paint-holder off the step ladders all over the carpet

Well I finished!

Pads are sooooooooo much cleaner than rollers - because they don't splatter everywhere you don't need to cover all the carpet/furniture up. I ended up doing the whole room in one session - was planning on doing half the following day. Gave all walls around 2 coats.

Here's what it looks like in late afternoon daylight:

And here's what it looks like at night with the lamps on... nice and warm! (much better than my egg blue that was always so 'cold'!)
