loss of balance?

Today my 14 yr border collie icey was walking along as usual then suddenly she seemed to lose her balance & went to her left side on rear end, didn't fall over though. I held her up on her right side but as i loosened my hands from her rear end she leant to her left side again so i held her up again then after a few minutes she walked slowly off again & seemed ok!!. Just not too sure what this could of been , vet said to give her some metacam & watch her & report any other episode of the loss of balance of rear end .

I've seen similar happen with my BC Kali, who is nearly 15 (24.4) and I suspect it's just another sign of approaching old age and therefore may be untreatable

I concentrate on keeping him warm when he's indoors, and keeping him in as much as possible when the weather is bad. Most of the time, though, he is in RUDE good health

we had to rush icey to vets tonight as she kept falling over & was trembling, did these stumbling , unbalanced sessions when in vets room , but thenm had x2 VERY SEVERE ,episodes & the 5th one made her collapse onm floor & she was flicking her eyes & not herself at all, she had a grade 5 murmer too, vet said this was probably the problem , anyway we decided after a long while that we was going to have to say goodbye to icey, she just lay on floor & wasn't responding . she was 14 yrs & had heart problems for along while. This was her time & vet said we made a sensible decision. We are both very upset though & will really miss our girl. I stayed with her until she passed over which was very hard.

oh Rosegallagher I'm so sorry to hear this.

She so obviously had a lovely life with you, long and happy and you definitely did the right thing, but neverthless I just know how hard this has no doubt been for you and how you must be feeling just now.

Hugs to you all.

Oh no, Rose.......

I'm so sorry honey. I was lucky enough to meet the beautiful Icey, and I'm sure you are missing her terribly.

Lots of love coming your way, chicken - I'm sure you did the right thing {{{{hugs}}}} x0x

yes its very sad snorri, she was having those strange trembling, circling then falling sessions every few minutes whilst in vets room in front of him, i have never experienced anything like it b4, he listened to her murmer & said it was sounding very bad. Her eyes after she collapsed on floor the 5th time were flicking around also.
