Tammy - 3yo very pretty little black girl

Tammy is an endearing little black girl with a very sweet face. She is approx 25" to the shoulder and 3 years of age. Tammy was recently abandoned at a pound and would have been on borrowed time had we not been able to step in and give her a rescue place.

Key Points: Inquisitive, cuddly, confident around people, loves other greyhounds, happy, bouncy little girl. Simply a great little girl with a great personality to match!!
Location: Kennels in Norfolk. Tammy would love a foster home while he waits for his forever family.

~ Personality ~
Generally: Confident, very friendly, loving, extremely happy with life, loves people, a big cuddle monster.
This little sweetheart is friendly and bubbly with everyone and is very popular at the kennels where she is staying, greeting you with a helicopter waggy tail! Tammy really does have a great big heart and is now looking to find her forever family so please call us for more details if you would like to offer her a home.

~ In the Home ~
Generally: Tammy hasn't had the luxury of living in a home yet but she does her very best to keep her kennel clean.
Sadly Tammy has never been in a home environment before but generally keeps her kennel space as clean as possible and loves treats so house-training should come naturally to this sweet little girl once she is in a loving home. She is very fond of the kennel staff so clearly has a lot of love to give if you just give her the chance!

~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Great with other greyhounds, unsure of small breeds and needs to learn that they are dogs.
Tammy is very good with the other greyhounds at the kennel but is unfortunately not too sure what to make of smaller dogs at the moment so will need an owner who is willing to give on-going training with this issue. Our behaviourist will be available for on-going training tips and advice. Given lots of positive socialisation, Tammy will come to realise that although these other dogs are weirdly shaped and weirdly sized and maybe even carry a weird smell, they are still dogs. Currently Tammy is best muzzled when she’s meeting other dogs, especially small ones, but we don’t expect this to be a permanent necessity.

~ Out and About ~
LOVES being out and about and meeting new people, dogs and seeing new things and Tammy is very good on the lead after initial excitement.
Ongoing training will really benefit her as will recall training so she can eventually stretch her little legs off lead but this must not be attempted until her new family have had adequate bonding time and ONLY in a safe place away from livestock and public roads.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are very calm, mannerly dogs that are used to being handled. They can fit into a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family environment, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the retired.

~ Where Can I Live? ~
We feel Tammy would like to live with at least one other dog for company, to play with and to show her the ropes (but she may be happy as a single dog with lots of attention and someone who’s at home for most of the day). She would also quite like an active home where she will be taken for nice long walks. Please note we do not home dogs to households with children under the age of 8. Tammy will also need a fence of at least 6ft as she can jump and climb quite high with those little legs if she chooses to! This should settle when she is happy in her new home though.

~ Where Am I? ~

Tammy is currently in kennels in Norfolk so you will need to travel to meet her and collect her from Norfolk when the time comes for her to join your family. This little poppet would benefit so very much from a chance to live in a foster home, we are always eager for new foster volunteers. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Tammy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed. Please be aware that a home-check will be carried out as part of the adoption agreement.

We would love to find Tammy a foster home while she waits to be adopted. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Tammy, you can contact me (Bronwen) via email: bronwen@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or you can speak to me directly by phoning: 075 000 62648.

There are application forms for both adopting and fostering a Kerry Greyhound, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page or Fostering Page of our website.

Thank you.
