How Do I Cook Tripe?

I've read on a few threads that tripe is good for dogs, do I bake it or microwave it and how much would I feed Harry, 9 month old GSD?

No! Raw, raw, raw!

If you didn't get that, tripe should be given to dogs raw, not cooked.

As for how much to feed, that's a tricky one. Here's a calculator that can help work out how much to feed your dog.

Raw Calculator

I would say as your dog is a large breed and therefore at 9 months still a pup, I would feed 10% of it's current body weight and then divide that depending upon what percentage you're wanting to feed tripe each day.

How Do I Cook Tripe?
With all the doors and windows open for a week afterwards and a mountain of various air freshners to last you through.

No seriously, as already said you don't cook it, just feed it raw.

Feed it raw or you will have a very stinky house and will feel sick for days!!!! My 8wk setter pup on the minced tripe and I feed him it raw.... best option!!

Now I'm confused, what is green tripe? I've only seen white in the local supermarket.

White tripe is the green tripe bleached ie with the green/grey stomach lining removed. You could cook this safely indoors as it doesn't have the same smell as green, but still, it's better raw. And green tripe is also better nutrionally for dogs.

the bleached (white) tripe available in supermarkets has little or no nutritional value for a dog! green tripe is available in most pet retail outlets (pets at home def has it in their freezers) - it looks grey. It is also avaialble in 'chunks', although I have only seen chunks in PAH.
