Heartworm prevention

Just interested in what you do for heartworm prevention I normally get them the yearly injection

I give Moxie a monthly tablet, but Heartworms are a huge problem in the US due to our climate and mosquito population. I was under the impression it wasn't such a big deal in the UK?

huh?! never knew that about the UK we have a decent issue with it for the same reason as the USA

Nothing as we dont fortunately have this problem.

But we are seeing an increase in "Lung worm" (also known as French Heartworm) which is not the same as the thread topic, and I think its maybe wise to vaccinate against this , (every 3 mths) I think!!! or thats how long the vaccine lasts?????????

Just wondering, Is heartworm a concern at all over there???? Not sure I know anything about lungworm.........not sure if I am a numpty on this or if we don't get it here

Now use Revolution (Pfizer). It is also good for fleas, ticks, etc. Formerly used Heartgard and Frontline.

I don't think heartworm is really an issue over here. As Jackbox says, we're seeing more and more cases of lungworm but AFAIK there's no preventative treatments available - all we can do is treat as if there's an infection, depending on how at-risk we feel the dogs are (I'm in an area where I personally know of several cases so treat my two quite frequently)

We give our dogs heart wormer once a month
all wormer (doesnt treat heart worms) every three months

I am living in the UK now and we dont have heart worms, but I am from the USA and while I was living there I used the monthly tablets
