The chickens have arrived!
We collected our 4 girls on Sunday afternoon. They seem to be settling in well and I think they must like living here because we had an egg from each of them yesterday, which really surprised me. I actually saw 2 of the eggs being laid!
They are ex-battery hens so everything is very new to them and it has been fascinating to watch them walking around and stretching their wings for the first time and pecking at everything.
They are not as thin as I thought they would be but they are a bit threadbare at the moment. There was a bit of squabbling on Monday, particularly around the feeder but they seem to be getting on a bit better now they realise there is plenty of food to go around!
There is an extension avaliable for our run which my mum is getting for them as a moving in present so in about a week or so they will have even more room to move around in. It's probably a good job that they just have the extension at the moment as their little legs aren't used to walking and I think they would get very tired.
