split claw...

Jas has split one of his claws . Its only a small amount of claw thats split away but it's REALLY sore- he won't let me touch it he's not limping though. I'm going to phone the vets when they open but has anyone got any advice on this please? What will the vet do with it- just tape it up? or will they want to remove the claw?
I have been told you can use superglue on it ....

Thanks for the help. I took him to the vets where they pulled a bit off and gave some anti biotics and anti inflams - it was really sore after he was limping but he's much better today
thanks
Kirstie

Glad things are on the mend, it is always worth a visit to the vet if it bleeds as an infection in the claw root can lead to the loss of a toes, in the very worse case, but nail root infection should always be treated with care.
