DDB Colours? Am I mad?

OK, what colours do Dogue de Bordeaux come in? I have only seen the "orange" ones, and weren't aware they came in anything else.

Today I saw an almost chocolate brown one! He was a rather lovely intact male, wearing a huge leather collar and ambling along next to his owner.

I'm about 90% it was a DDB, as it looked just like Boo (who lives near us) except for the colour.

Could I have mistaken him for another type of mastiff/bull breed?

This is what it says in the breed standard, regards colour.

Self-coloured, in all shades of fawn from mahogany to Isabella.
A good pigmentation is desirable. Limited white patches are permissible on chest and the extremities of the limbs.

Ah! Thanks! I've only ever see fawn ones anywhere. I wonder if non-fawn are rarer then....

There is a DDB X Bullmastiff that I often see around. Looks exactly like a DDB but is the wrong colour (dark brindle) so perhaps it is a cross.

Sounds like a cross to me, or maybe a Neo?
