Campylobacter /Jess may have it.

I thought I would warn you guys.

I live in the Oldham district and as you know my puppy is ill.

The other day she went for a play with my hubbys friends 10month old Labrador, it wasnt for long, less than an hour, but he got a phone call today, this guys dog is ill, same symptoms as Jess Vomiting, Diarrhea...

The Labs vet had diagnosed Camyiobacter in his dog, I cannot find anything useful about it online that explains specifically what this is about but all I know is it is transfarable to humans and other animals too!

I have rang my vet and told them this news and what the labrador is being treated with, I am waiting for the nurse to speak to the vet, then maybe Jess will have to be taken in for tests.

I thought I would warn everyone this desiese is about and if your dog gets the same symptoms to mention this to the vet.

Also any information about Camyiobacter would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

Watch out feeders of the barf diet!

Raw poultry is often the cause of dogs getting Campylobacter!

Other ways of becoming infected are;

•Campylobacter is found in intestines of cats, dogs, poultry, cattle, pigs, rodents and wild birds.
•Most chickens in commercial operations are colonised from about 3 weeks of age.
•Present in raw cow’s milk.
•It has been found in retail red meat: beef, pork and lamb.
•It is sometimes present in natural non-chlorinated water sources such as streams and ponds, or poorly maintained or under-chlorinated private water supplies.
•Other animals feaces.

Oh dear.. it looks like everyhing is a culprit of this desiese!

When Satunr was poorly as a small pup, they thought this might be the culprit (but it wasn't) they then thought it may be giardia (but it wasn't!) Don't know much about it, only that it can make you proper poorly sick with a shawl on...so be very careful hygiene wise. Hope the dogs are better soon.

Thank you maebme and Ramble, im hoping that our friends dog gets better soon too, and hoping that it isnt this bug that Jess has caught!

I had never heard of this bug before, but it seems a very common ailment!

Great news everyone!

The vet has just rang me, even if Jess does have Campylobacter the medicine she is on will cover it and get rid of it! :smt023

Thats great news, money is a bit tight at this time of year and vet treatment is expensive so we wont have to pay out more, but we wouldve without question if we had too, our baby is too important to not get the best medical attention!
