Daisy – 9 month old female Basset Hound

Meet Daisy the 9 mnth Basset bitch. She is looking for someone who is home a lot, preferably with another dog as she does love dogs. She currently lives with a cat but will play and this includes chasing. Daisy is very clever and manipulative, so you should be aware that training will be top of the agenda. She suffers anxiety from loss of the female human with whom she has bonded. This involved barking and drooling in her absence. This can be worked on successfully as she is so young.

This is probably due to having a bad start in her first home where she was vastly underfed and left dirty but she is now clean indoors. She will quickly take charge if she detects a weakness in the pecking order of the family. She needs clear boundaries. A person or couple who are home a lot and can gradually get her used to a routine which involves being left from time to time is what is needed for Daisy.

She can be let off the leash and comes back well, which is very, very good for any hound !! She is young and happy to learn. She has been with 2 children, one with ADHD and other asperges syndrome. This has proved too much for the family and they have decided for her sake to rehome her. We suggest therefore no young children this time.

Help and advice is part of the service of re homing which we offer. Daisy will offer loads of love and some challenging times no doubt, worth each and every minute for such a beautiful dog.

Please apply only if willing to take the time and effort and if you are in a position to re home now. Knowledge of the breed is preferable.

Gosh I know someone who is looking for a Bassett!
He has years of experience with them too. He looks after his daughter's Bassett for her in the daytime while she works, he used to have a Bassett of his own but had to be put to sleep last year aged only 6 due to cancer

Sadly a friend told him about one in a local shelter and he got her last week but I found out yesterday that she had to be taken back as she was a biter.
