Well I'm off to bed now, but I've three hours of Leonard Cohen. That's what I call a good end to the day.

I'll have to get my technical advisor (Tassle) to help me with that.

I think Rufus is alright, but I prefer his sister Martha Wainright, she has a good voice! I like it when they sing together they are good!

It is canine freestyle and I am hoping to use a talking stick and maybe a drum. It is in its infancy as I was keeping the misic for my BC but it is never going to work with him so I am giving it a go with my lab x lurcher.

If it works I'll get Tassleto post a link but so far its just bits.

I was channel hopping in bed last night and hadn't seen this thread beforehand, and when I ended up on this channel I was quite mesmorised by the words of his songs, let alone his awesome voice, and as I kept looking at him, I thought he's so ooooold and yet still has a fantastic deep voice like that, and I recognised it too, I think I had ONE of his records a while back but can't remember which single it was??? Awesome, just awesome! Tell me more please, was he famous in his own right, or was he just a songwriter or did he sing with a group or what, and what was his most famous song which will then make me remember exactly who he was!

I suppose Hallelujah is probably his best known song He wrote and recorded it himself but there have been so many versions by now. I think almost everybody knows it. He wrote more verses later on so there are different versions about.
You'll probably have heard' Like a Bird on a Wire'. The words are in an earlier post.
I think of him more as a poet. I've got one of his early books.
His first album was 'The Songs of Leonard Cohen 'and it came out in the very early 70s, followed by 'Songs of Love and Hate'.
I think he really divides people they either love him or hate him. He was, and is, famous but hasn't been on tour for about 15 years. He built up a good career but then went into a Zen monastery for about ten years. He was never part of a group. Does that help?

I played him on nights in at college and we drank and cried to his songs.

None are exactly famous except Halleluja, all are awsome in their depth and he sings them better than anyone else IMO. Just a bit prejudised though!
