I am offended that two grown up men who should know a lot, lot better and who earn a lot of money from the BBC thought that it was funny and just could not leave it alone. They did not ring just the once, the just kept on calling back. Even the first apology was a joke. I am offended because I can be.

If I have jumped on a bandwagon that is up to me, however I do not read the papers and so I do not even know what they have been saying.
I have listened fairly frequently to RB in the past and also watched JR on a Friday night, however on this occasion they went too far and it is right that they should be held accountable.

we buy it we read it and we watch it but all it is doing is giving the media more power! if we dont buy into the media culture then maybe they will start printing and covering the news properly and dare i say it honestly. dont get me wrong i love a bit of light hearted entertainment like jr on fri night but ahead of whats happening in the world right now ?

and therein lays one of the curses of modern society.

people feel they have a human right to be offended.
but as the Director of Liberty said: there is no such right as the 'right to be offended'.

its the backbone of political correctness, amongst many other things.

we could learn a lot from the Scandinavians or Kiwis.

For me personally I saw this as a chance to draw a line in the sand and say no further, TV/Radio has been pushing the lines of what is acceptable for many years and this was too far. I have no problem with risqué jokes and actually find JR funny on occasions but unless "the mob" actually stand up and say they will accept the line being pushed no further I dread to think what our TV/Radio will be broadcasting in the future.

On this forum we have members unhappy at a puppy used in Casualty they have the right to be unhappy and complain if they feel a line has been crossed just as we have a right to say when we feel a line of decency has been crossed. The fact that a lot of people felt the same way would seem to suggest I am not alone in being unhappy with what is pouring out of our TV's and radios in the past few years.

People being offended is not a by-product of modern society....

People have have taken offence since the beginning of time...

Look at Queen Victoria...she was the queen of being offended.

The day people stop being offended will be the day society breaks down.

As it goes hand in hand with morals!!
