Don't beat yourself up woman - most of us are like that, at least a bit. It's because you care so much.

You must twist the tick out without harming it else it can regurgitate back into the dog, thus increasing the risk of disease. There are some thorough threads on here with exact advise. Patch is the guru in my eyes of this so drop her a pm.

i know how you feel, china said hello to some cows last summer and she had 4!!!

i only noticed when she kept trying to nibble her back leg....

Gave me the creeps... i found 2 in the bed...

needless to say i stripped the bed, hoovered it and slept fully clothed (just in case i have hair too damnit!!)

I pulled them out slowly with tweezers

china looked so releived after!!!!

I then put drops on her!!

(p.s the body might pop but keep ahold of it...lol - bet you can't wait now huh!)
Arrghhhhhh, it gets worse God I hate creepy crawlies. She already hides from any bottle with a lid on it. Can't even put my lipgloss on in the morning without her running and hiding LOL

Aha, now I know where my new title came from

Will I be remembered for being an agility instructor ?

Behavioural volunteer ?

Trainer ?

Animal welfare campaigner ?

Nope, my legacy to the animal world for which I will henceforth be remembered will be

"Patch - Tick Guru"

Our vet sells the little plastic tick remover sticks, they pull the tick out safely ensuring the head doesn't get left in the wound and cause infection. I wouldn't pull with tweezers or the head of the tick will detach itself.

The proper tick removers are very cheap to buy, I keep them handy as we live near sheep fields and they can easily find a new host!
